INSTALLATION
------------
No installation required.

1. Unzip the file "SLD_Explorer_v1.0.5.zip"
2. Open the folder "SLD Explorer"
3. Double-click "SLD Explorer.exe" to start the program

The program is self-contained — no Python or other software
needs to be installed on your computer.

WINDOWS SECURITY WARNING
------------------------
The first time you run the program, Windows may show a warning:
"Windows protected your PC" or "Unknown publisher".

This is normal for programs that are not commercially signed.
To proceed:
  1. Click "More info"
  2. Click "Run anyway"

You will only need to do this once.

LICENSE KEY
-----------
A valid license key is required to use the program.
Each license key is tied to one specific computer.

To obtain a license key:
  1. Start SLD Explorer — the activation dialog will appear
  2. Copy your Machine ID shown in the dialog
  3. Send the Machine ID to: fredrik.eriksson@liu.se
  4. You will receive a license key by return
  5. Paste the key into the activation dialog and click Activate

Once activated, the key is saved and the program opens
directly on all future launches.

If you install a newer major build supplied later, you may be asked
for a new license key again. Earlier test keys are not guaranteed to
work with all future builds.

This build uses a reboot-stable Windows Machine ID for machine-bound
licenses. If an older license stopped working after restarting the
computer, send the Machine ID shown by this version and request a new
license key.

WHAT THE PROGRAM DOES
---------------------
SLD Explorer calculates neutron scattering length densities (SLD)
for elements, isotopes, and compounds. It is designed for scientists
working with neutron reflectometry, SANS, and related techniques.

Main features:
  - SLD for all elements and isotopes (real, imaginary, incoherent)
  - Compound SLD from chemical formula and density
  - Composition scan across binary mixtures (e.g. H2O-D2O)
  - Bilayer contrast calculator
  - Contrast matching tool
  - Blend explorer with interactive sliders
  - Spin contrast maps for magnetic multilayers
  - Fixed Graphite user interface

Detailed theory and usage instructions are available inside
the program under the toolbar buttons Theory and Instructions.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
-------------------
  - Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit)
  - No internet connection required
  - Approx. 150 MB disk space
